A Pet’s Love
The Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a non-profit who’s main goal is to improve the lives of pets and people in the community. Through their mission and support of others they adopt over 3,000 needy and unwanted pets each year.
Located in Hampden, they have dozens of available pets ranging in all ages and breeds.
Adopting from here is also cheaper than buying a dog or getting one from a friend. The initial adoption fee is the primary charge you would need to spend to get your new pet. In other circumstances, you would have to pay for spay and neuter procedures, vaccinations, tests, and identification but all these costs are already administered and documented. These costs add up to hundreds of dollars that are incurred thanks to the MDSPCA.
With a lot of animals to look after, they are always looking for help. If you are interested look in to volunteering with the MDSPCA. The duties range from walking and cuddling to office assisting and events. The only requirement is that you must be 17 years old. Other than that start your process and sending in your volunteer application.
This is a great alternative if you want to get your animal fix but the people in your house are allergic.
So during these lonely months there is a pet that is lonely too and waiting for your affection.
